There is a large lighthouse standing around 9 metres high and specifically designed to as a nod to Timaru's very own Blackett lighthouse but with added adrenaline pumping slides and climbing features. The lighthouse tells a story of ingenuity and the pioneering Timaru spirit.
To mirror the European maritime themes a large shelter for eating and gathering will be shaped like traditional maori vessels. With obtained permission from local iwi, replicated rock art images will adorn the shelter and tell a Maori creation story. Part of the playground for the littlest in our community will have fun themes of mahinga kai, and our pathways will flow through our playground like a braided river further telling our story.
