A Timaru mother's group is planning to sell children's clothes online to raise funds for CPlay. From left Emma Kingan, Harry Kingan, 2, Brittney Bowie, Piper Anderson, 2, Eliza Anderson, 9 months, Nakita Anderson, Toby Casey, 5 months, and Jo Gordon.
A group of Timaru mothers plan to sell pre-loved children’s clothing to help raise funds for a new playground at Caroline Bay. Brittney Waldron said the mothers could see the ongoing advantage of having a proposed $2.2million playground built at Caroline Bay and wanted to help get the CPlay committee organising the build to its fundraising target.
Fundraising for the new playground was now at $1.9million after Oceania Dairy donated $50,000 recently. The playground is expected to be completed by Christmas.
“As a group of mums we know that our kids will get massive benefit from the playground, and children for generations and their families too.
“We want to make our contribution to this greater than the individual donations we can make.”
Waldron said one of the other mothers came up with the idea for the clothing sale and the five mums in the group all agreed it was a good idea.
The women, who all attended the same antenatal group, are looking for donations of any second hand clothing for children under the age of five.
The mums will then photograph and price the items, and list them for sale online.
“We hope to raise about $3000.”
Donations of clothing can be dropped off at a box by the letterboxes of either 184 Le Cren St or 7 Rugby St, in Timaru, and at 124 Butlers Rd, Pleasant Point.
The sale will be held online on March 23 on the CPlay Children’s Sale Fundraiser social media page.
