Monday 22nd March
Owen Jackson (OJ)

It has been quite some journey but finally after nearly 3 years since the inception of CPlay the first draft of conceptual plans were unveiled on the big screen at Movie Max Digital on Monday evening to the media, invited guests and some of those individuals and groups that we spoke with during our consultation process.

CPlay committee chairperson Owen Jackson (OJ) began the presentation by taking the audience through “The Story So Far” followed by committee member Roselyn Fauth explaining the unique local stories that have been woven into the playground design.

A 5 minute video produced by Ash Ronald in conjunction with CPlay was then played featuring a number of prominent stakeholders in the project including the Timaru District Council, Venture Timaru and members of CPlay explaining why we need a new inclusive destination playground for Caroline Bay. This was followed by some 3D rendered images of the equipment in more detail from CPlay’s design and equipment provider, Playground Centre.

Speaking on behalf of the Timaru District Council, Deputy Mayor, Steve Wills was glowing in his praise of the community based initiative and reaffirmed council’s support of the project and how it will be a huge asset to the district on many different levels.

After a lively question & answer session the audience was invited to join the CPlay team in the foyer for refreshments and to view the conceptual plans in more detail and give their feedback which was overwhelmingly positive and supportive.

It was a great night and a wonderful feeling to have these plans now available for the public to view and give their feedback on.

CPLAY Team

To celebrate the completion of the brief and the launch of the concept plans. CPlay committee invited those who offered suggestions and feedback for the playground community consultation phase. This information and feedback gathered at public festivals, helped the committee identify the needs and wants of the community.

A big thank you to Movie Max Digital, Barkers, New World, Ash Ronald, Corporate Print, Ron Lindsay and the CPlay team for helping to make the night a success.
